J.Williams was born to entertain. The young entertainer grew up in a family that was very religious that isn’t too dissimilar to the upbringing of the Jackson 5. Music has always had a pivotal role in his life. But it was more his sisters that took to music whereas J explored other areas of self-expression.
In 2006 with his Hip-Hop Dance Crew Dziah they achieved silver medals at the World Hip-Hop Dance Championships (adult division) and in 2008 under the crew name of Prestige came fourth (adult division). In late 2008 J’s career as a solo artist was launched and by the end of the year the New Zealand Herald voted him one of the Top 20 New Zealanders to watch for in 2009 (he was the only musician). And he didn’t let us down with his album debuting at No.5 on the NZ TOP40 Album Charts and #1 on the NZ Album Charts.
He has sold over 120,000 records in NZ making him one of the highest selling local artist in the digital age.

“The goal is to take my style of music as far and wide as possible, a lot of this wouldn’t be possible without the support of fans, family & friends and my team and for that I am truly grateful. Hopefully, it inspires others to keep chasing their dreams” (J.Williams, 2012). And he’s been taking his music across the globe. In May 2011, he released the ‘Takes Me Higher’ record in Germany and spent 2 weeks promoting the single in Germany. In the beginning of 2012 J.Williams embarked on taking the 2nd biggest music market in the world by storm, Japan. With a number of releases that gained significant rankings on the local charts, by late July Warner Music Japan requested J.Williams to push his ‘hybrid album’ of ‘Young Love’ in Japan. This resulted in J spending 10 days in Japan performing live across radio, TV and high profile events. The Japanese now await his sophomore album for release in 2013.
J also lent his expertise as an entertainer to developing the boyband ‘Titanium’ in 2012 and assisted in a nationwide tour of NZ with them. At the same time, keeping up with his touring commitments throughout Australia and releasing 2 records; a cover of Tears for Fears ‘Rule The World’ and a collaboration with US Rapper Maino on the single ‘Is It You’. Expect the unexpected from J.Williams in 2013.
