Shout outs to the crew and the homie Shae Sterling for the behind the scenes photos… To welcome in 2012 K.ONE unleashes new heat with ‘So Long’ (Remix) featuring Scribe. Or if you can’t wait for it on radio and it being on youtube grab ya self a copy from iTunes: “So Long” is about chasing your dream and proving everyone that doubted you wrong. It speaks on a journey, the mistakes made along the way and the desire to be the best. The title has a double meaning. “So Long” in the sense of waiting “So Long” to reach this point, after years of dreaming, hard work and failed attempts. And the second meaning being “So Long” is another form of farewell, saying goodbye to non-believers, loved ones and the life you once knew.
Hope this record inspires you to go for yours in 2012. Illegal

Just a quick recap of what illegal did in 2011. Early Jan and Feb we managed to finish 2 albums ‘Erakah “Infatuated” and Vince Harder “The Space Between Us” which we released successfully in late Feb and March. Not forgetting the epic video shoot with The Request Girls On Vince Harder’s track “I Want this Forever”
While this was happening K.One feat Jason Kerrison “Walking Away” and J.Williams Feat K.One ‘Night of your Life’ were both in the charts Night of your life doing extremely well peaking at Nm 4 on the NZ singles charts.
In March, Sunshine Reggae Band Tomorrow People unleashed one of their most successful tracks to date. ‘Feel Alright’ feat Kolohe Kai. The track went on to being one of the biggest local tracks on urban radio – reggae music definitely making it’s presence felt on commercial radio.
We Shot and released Erakahs final single with illegal “Hold you near in April” we then released her from the label, in June.
DJ Sirvere asked if Illegal could help him produce a track for his upcoming Major Flavours Australian release which we were honored to do we shot this vid with help of our Man Dei Hamo in June 2011. The track features J Williams, K.ONE, JR & Mareko.
Around the same time we released and shot the K.One vid Shes a Killer feat J.Williams this track was in the charts for 6 weeks peeking at #25
Another highlight of 2011 was the signing of Tyson Tyler and the release of his first single GO HARD. This becoming one of NZ’s highest requested Songs of 2011
Around this time our year became a lil complicated. We had run in to some negative press that was to put a hault on J.Williams 2nd Album release and a major trip to Germany which we had to be postpone till July. We then Made the Trip to Germany spending 13 days there on a major Single Tour With WARNER GERMANY which was absolutely amazing meeting up with Dane Rumble him joining us on this Single promo tour there.
We came back To NZ where J had won Pacific artist highest played song of the year and the team having performed at the P.I Awards. Following this we shot and released DJCXL’s 3rd single “Number One” feat. K.One & PNC in August.
At the same time we released K.One’s ‘Bring That Beat Back’ feat Brooke and shot the video while performing at Edgestravaganza
In October we recorded and released K.One Debut Album ‘Far From Home’ which charted top 20 and the Album Release Party was also one of the biggest parties of 2011.
We also released J.Williams New Single “Live it up” which was the 1st vid we have done with Animation this was done by Eddie Bennett’s bro Steven
This was quickly followed by Tyson Tyler’s 2nd single “MY LIFE” which was the only local track to ever make the A rotate on Mai FM in 2011.
If that wasn’t enough we decided to record a Christmas Ep ”For Christmas” which drop 1st week of December
at the same time releasing 2 new singles Vince Harder ‘It’s The Life’ feat. K.ONE, P.Money & Dan Aux as well as DJCXL’s ‘Lets Just Celebrate’.
Last but not least the sneeky lil vid shoot we had in Dec for the new K.One Single scheduled to drop real soooooon. So all in all, it was a hard year but a very productive one releasing 3 albums 1 ep Shooting 11 vids travelled to the other side of the world to Tour Germany, plus the countless shows we’ve put on in Australia and all over NZ. One can say that’s BRILLIANT .
